Papermaps‘ new video “The Hedonist” captures the band performing at a local University of Toronto fraternity house surrounded by a group of students involved in a mattress jumping contest. The video was shot by Toronto photographer/video director Kerry Shaw. Her intention was to take a page from those classic late seventies movies like “National Lampoon’s Animal House” (1978) and Roger Corman’s “Rock ‘n’ Roll Highschool” (1979).

In JF Robitaille‘s newest video, “Black and White”, Robitaille and Toronto visual artist, Janieta Eyre, have discovered a rare moment when two separately conceived bodies of work merge together to create a unified voice. Robitaille’s song “Black and White” serves as a musical landscape and soundtrack to the arresting self portraits created by artist Janieta Eyre.

Janieta Eyre is quickly becoming one of Canada’s most recognized contemporary photographic artists. Her piece, “The Day My Eye Laid an Egg”, which was featured this year on the cover of Toronto’s Now Magazine during the Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival, confirmed the significance of the work she has created over the last decade.

Robitaille’s composition “Black and White” comes from his recently released album “Rival Hearts” . It is his third video for the album.

Robitaille will perform on November 8th at Casa Del Popolo in Montreal and on November 9th at the London Music Hall in London, Ontario.

Just as the band is wrapping up the first leg of their Canadian tour including media showcases in Montreal (Oct 7) and Toronto (Oct 17), Sparks Music is happy to announce that Papermaps have been added to the CMJ Music Marathon! They will perform at The Left Field on Saturday October 19 at midnite.
